The single most significant factor influencing a child’s early educational success is an introduction to books and being read to at home prior to beginning school. Unfortunately, too many of our children start school with a low vocabulary and low literacy skills. Consequently, they do not reach minimal standards during their early academic years. Statistically, children who are reading below grade level in the 3rd grade never catch-up, and are more likely to encounter numerous issues later in life.
It doesn't have to be this way...employing simple changes can help change this trend. The Saint Louis Black Authors of Children's Literature is inviting you to come and support this initiative to ensure all children are reading on grade level by the 3rd grade. It's doable if we commit to work together to make it happen.
This will be an informative experience for those wanting to make a change for the St. Louis community! We will have authors selling and signing books as well as special guest speakers. We will also have a very special announcement that evening . You will not want to miss this! This event is free to the public.
